Matt Coupe graduated from Falmouth University in 2011 and has since been working consistently, developing a considerable and impressive portfolio.
Matt has produced several bodies of work centered on the fashion industry, most recently ‘Show and Tell’. Embedding for a year with a group of male models, Matt has created an unusual and insightful look into the fashion industry, challenging preconceptions about the lives young models lead.
Although he has plans to work at London Fashion Week, Matt is now also looking to expand his portfolio in new ways:
“I felt I had to step away from the fashion stuff I had been shooting, to a certain degree, I felt I had done enough with the story and achieved what I hoped to say. I wanted to explore and tell a variety of stories. I guess, along with having consistency you got to mix it up and keep people guessing. You’re only as good as your last project, and if most your projects are the same sort of stuff, you aren’t doing yourself any favors.”
Matt is now beginning to take his work in a more documentary direction, with his projects ‘The Thought of Getting Out’ and ‘White Heat’.
We are looking forward to seeing more of Matt’s work as it continues to develop and improve.
All the projects mentioned above can be seen here, on Matt’s Website.
